Milan, 23 October 2020COIMA SGR, Italy’s leading Real Estate investment, development and management company, is pleased to announce that its Porta Nuova Garibaldi Fund has been recognised as the best performing specialised fund in Italy having won the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) European Property Investment Award for the second consecutive year.

Now in its 22nd year, the award distinguishes European real estate funds that have outperformed in their country and achieved the highest total return over the past three years.

COIMA SGR’s Porta Nuova Garibaldi Fund has consistently delivered a 7.5% annual return over the last three years. This compares to the average fund performance of 4.7% per annum return across the 27 funds assessed.

This award is in line with COIMA’s strategy to deliver solid financial returns through innovative and sustainable urban regeneration. It follows COIMA winning the US Green Building Council Leadership Award 2020 for its ongoing committment to sustainable Real Estate development at a European level.

The Porta Nuova Garibaldi complex has also excelled in respect to Health and Safety. The International Safety Award 2020 was recently awarded to COIMA and GAe Engineering by the British Safety Council for their work. The award recognises the organisations which demonstrated committment to preventing injuries and illnesses and in supporting occupational wellbeing and mental health.

COIMA has also started the process of obtaining the LEED and WELL for community certifications for Milan’s Porta Nuova district, making it the world’s first neighbourhood regeneration project to commence the journey towards a double certification. This will improve Italy’s position as one of the most advanced countries in respect to delivering ESG initiatives which have a measurable and transparent impact.

Manfredi Catella, Founder and CEO of COIMA said: “Throughout the years, Porta Nuova has strengthened its cultural and reputational role in urban regeneration, contributing to the increased recognition of Milan as a sustainable development model at an international level. The MSCI Award demonstrates that it is possible to achieve best in class financial and economic performance without compromising best practices in sustainable Real Estate or circular economy principles.”
